Covers and access panels
A latch pattern holds with a defined force and releases at a known one, so the panel feels the same every time and does not need a catch that wears.
Mounts and docks
An alignment pattern lets a device find its own position. Useful where the user is not looking at what they are doing.
Contactless couplings
Torque passes through a wall with no shaft and therefore no seal to leak. Common where a sealed boundary matters more than efficiency.
Controls and dials
A detent pattern gives discrete positions with no mechanical click to wear out or collect grit.
Near sensitive electronics
The short field is the point: holding force where it is wanted, very little field where it would be a problem.
Anywhere debris is a nuisance
Workshops, machine tools and vehicles, where an ordinary magnet collects steel swarf and becomes a maintenance job.
Working out whether yours qualifies
Tell us the gap, the force, what the parts are made of and what must not be affected. That is usually enough to say yes or no honestly.
